How do I get from the port to the hostel?
At the port of Athinios you take the bus to THIRA (Main Town) and get off at the central station (about 25 min. ride). There you change the bus to OIA (about 20 min. ride). Bus tickets are available in the bus; fare from Athinios to Oia € 3,--.

You can also hire a taxi wich costs € 25,-- one way up to 4 passengers. It will take you about half an hour, the distance is about 18 kilometers.
Don’t forget that our reception opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes at 10:00 pm

How far is the Hostel from the Bus Station in Oia?
Three minutes walking distance. Just follow the blue sign which will lead you to the hostel.
How do I get from the airport to the hostel?
As the bus-frequency from the airport to Thira is very poor, better get a taxi. The fare to Oia is € 25,-- one way, up to 4 passengers. In order to safe money you can take a taxi to Thira (€ 10,--) and continue with the bus to Oia (€ 1,50). Bus time-table:

From where can I see the sunset?
From our roof-patio you have a phantastic view to the world-famous sunset of Oia. You can join our “Happy Hour” at sunset-time, try your luck at the “Happy Hour Lottery” with Oia’s cheapest drinks, making friends and meeting fellow travellers from all over the world.
In case you’d like to see not only the sunset but also hundreds of tourists who are brought by buses from all over the island, you have to go to the ruins of “Kastro”, an old Venezian castle. In order to make your pictures between crowds of people, you should go there in time to find a place.
Where is the nearest beach?
In Oia you have several options to go for swimming:
Those who like snorkelling and diving will prefer the rocky side of the Village. You can walk down the steps to the small beach of “Ammoudi”, swimming in the deep blue water of the Caldera to the little rock of Agios Nikolaos. You will also find some very good fish tavernas there and a mini-market to buy drinks. (Takes about 15 minutes walk from the hostel or 5 minutes by bike)
There is another small rocky beach called “Katharos” within a walking distance of about 20 minutes (or 5 minutes per bike). It’s a small beach-bar there for refreshments and snacks.
The nearest sandy beach is about 25 minutes walk from the hostel, called “Baxedes” or “Paradise Beach”. During the season there are several buses operating which bring you there in 5 minutes. You can rent umbrellas and sunbeds and buy drinks at a small kiosk.
What about nightlife in Oia?
Oia is famous for its romantic, serene atmosphere – therefore you will not find loud nightclubs or discos. However, there are some bars with very good music where you can chill-out or have fun with people from all over the world.
If you are looking for the typical greek nightlife until the morning-hours with all kinds of bars, discos and nightclubs you take a bus or taxi to Thira – there you will find it all.
Where can I rent bikes or cars?
Close to the hostel there are some companies which rent bikes, quads and cars.
Do you have a swimming-pool?
We are lucky to be surrounded by one of Europe’s biggest pools with fresh, clearblue water, called the Mediterranean Sea!
Do you have a kitchen?
We don’t have a kitchen to be used by our guests but we have a bar, where we prepare breakfast and cheap snacks like toasts, pizzas, etc. and all kinds of drinks.
Do you accept credit-cards?
No – we keep your credit-card number for booking-guarantee. We accept only cash and travellers-cheques. |
